Hariyali Teej or Hariyali Teej Vrat (Singhara Teej or Teejan) is a vrat or puja observed on the third day just after Hariyali Amavasya, in Shravan Month
(July – August) of North Indian Hindi calendar. In 2013 Hariyali Teej
date is 9th august . This vrata is dedicated to Lord Shiva and
Goddess Parvati. It is observed mainly by married and unmarried women of
Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh
, etc.
On Hariyali Teej vrat day, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are
worshipped. Women wear green bangles to symbolize the lush greenery
during Sawan mahina and their prosperous life. Moon God is also
worshipped in the evening after breaking the fast. Women also adorn
their hands with Mehandi designs. Hariyali Teej is also known as Choti
Teej.
